HOPEFULS PROGRAM GUIDE

Generally

The Hopefuls Program begins the first Saturday in December and continues each Saturday into late March. Extra days are also scheduled over the Christmas Vacation and the Presidents week in February. We meet at the Alpine Training Center/Killington Ski Club unless otherwise scheduled. Hours are from 8:30 AM until 2:30 PM, with an hour for lunch at 11:00. Children must be supervised by parents or a guardian during the lunch period.

Daily Schedule

First Days

We ask that Hopefuls join by December 7th, and attend at least two sessions prior to Christmas Vacation. We understand this is a busy time of year, but to organize our groups and be fair to all involved, it is best to have everyone in attendance as much as possible. This insures that everyone in each group will have the best opportunity to learn quickly. The more regularly children attend, the more they become a part of the group, gain friends and build confidence. We understand that they may not be able to attend every weekend and we will try to be flexible. However, in order to be fair to all and to best insure an organized, quality program; we ask that you commit to regular attendance.

Fun Days and Races

Occasionally we will schedule fun days or races. These may alter our normal time schedule and/or meeting place. We may schedule a day for you to pack a lunch for your child and we will eat lunch at one of the other base lodges. We also try to schedule a Treasure hunt, and a day at Pico. Some of our Hopefuls likely will race at Killington or another Mid-Vermont ski area.

Hopefuls Hike

The Annual Hopefuls Hike is scheduled each year on the Sunday of the Columbus Day week-end. The hike leaves the ATC at 10:00 AM and returns to the ATC around 1:30 PM. Please bring a lunch, water and a pack to carry your food and any clothes you may need for the weather and a day on the mountain. Parents are invited and welcome to hike with us on our mountain. It's fun to see the slopes without the season's snow yet covering it.

Organizational Meeting

We will have a coaches/parents meeting following the first day of training (the first Saturday of December) at 2:30 PM. For those who are unable to attend the first meeting, we will also schedule a meeting the second Saturday at the same time. Topics will include schedules, general information, and program goals. Please plan to attend one of these meetings.

Schedule Changes

These schedule changes and other information will be posted on our Hopeful's bulletin board upstairs in the ATC. It is your responsibility to check the board for information and to sign up for races or other events on a timely basis. When possible we will post schedules, changes and pertinent information on the website www.TeamKillington(.)com to reduce spam
