Welcome.

We are group of athletes who are serious about our sport - serious about competing and serious about having fun.

On this site we hope to answer all your questions about The Killington Freestyle Team and about the various training programs we offer.

Based at the Alpine Training Center near Killington Base Lodge, the Killington Freestyle Team trains on Killington's famous Outer Limits ("OL") on Bear Mountain, one of the seven peaks of Killington. The Killington course crew is famous for its cat-built courses, where they lay down arrow-straight lines and build huge kickers. Located under the Bear Quad chairlift, the moguls on OL are a perfect place to see and be seen, ski and compete, and most importantly, challenge yourself to accomplish your dreams and excel at your sport.

Some incredibly successful and talented athletes have either been part of this program or have trained on this venue. Evan Dybvig, Luke Westerlund and Alex Wilson, Hannah Hardaway and Donna Weinbrecht ("The Queen of Bear Mountain") are all current US Ski team members who first cranked it up on Outer Limits and Devil's Fiddle. Other alumni, like Steve Desovich and Diana Williams, went the coaching road and are National team coaches.

Other of our former athletes and Killington Mountain School alums enjoyed national success in their sport, but decided to become doctors, teachers, or lawyers instead. Of course, we still see them on weekends from time to time.

Our most recent graduates, such as Richard and Michael Morse, Justin Fisher, Jordan Goldman, Ryan Adami, Erik and Mark Nordstrom, Shawn Crowley, are working towards degrees from the Universities of Vermont, Northeastern, Colorado, Utah, Cornell, and Northwestern while continuing their freestyle and freeriding interests.

Freestyle skiers who want to compete with and against the best skiers in the country on the best facilities in the East train here.

My name is Matt Gnoza. (Center, between Evan Goldman, left, and Rich Morse, right) I am the Head Freestyle Coach here at Killington. I'd like to invite you to check us out. We're always looking for new athletes who want to chase their dreams, rip it up and show the world who's boss.

Or you can just drop by at the Alpine Training Center here at Killington during the season and talk to me. I'm always here, unless there's a mogul competition in North America. (The Alpine Training Center is located just up the hill from the Killington Base lodge at the top of the Access Road.)

Our programs include:

  • Team Killington trains every day except Monday, starting at 12:30. Most weekdays are spent training and most weekends are spent competing at venues around New England. Some of this group will compete at Junior Olympic, Junior National, and National levels.
  • Weekend Team - trains weekends and holidays.
  • K-Team - Hopefuls who are ready for a bit more. Saturdays and Sundays.
  • Hopefuls - younger skiers just starting out. Saturdays only.

  • Killington Mountain School is a five-month tutorial school [ November - April ] and is designed for those athletes who desire a morning schedule of high-school courses and an afternoon schedule of freestyle training. Athletes in this program train with the Team Killington group mentioned above, but enroll in KMS for their academics. (This link to KMS Freestyle will open a new window in your browser.)

I'd like to hear from you. Write to me at BumpCoach(@)TeamKillington(.)com to reduce spam
